I have 2 more days in New Zealand, and 6 Days in Hong Kong.

This is the first time I've used a computer in almost 2 weeks...and....I didn't feel withdrawn.

We will be going from this to this

*INVOLVES SELECTIVE COLOR*

1. Crop/Resize, Duplicate two times, and set both to screen 100%.  I added a sharpen filter to the topmost layer.

2.  Add a selective color layer with the following settings :
Cyan. Cyan +100, Magenta -15, Yellow - 100, Black - 10. 
Neutrals, Cyan - 35, Magenta - 10, Yellow - 35, Black - 5.
Blacks, Cyan - 20, Magenta - 5, Yellow +25, Black +15

3. Add a brightness contrast layer.  I set mine to Brightness+18, Contrast+14.  It really, really depends on your picture and how you like it.

4. Add a Fill layer with #F8E9E9 and set it to color burn. 100%

5. Add a Fill layer with #EECE90 and set it to multiply 100%

6. Add another selective color layer with the following settings:
Red, Cyan +100, Magenta - 20, Yellow +100,
Yellow, Cyan -50, Magenta +25, Yellow -40, Black -20
Greens, Cyan -100, Yellow -100
Cyan, Black -100
Whites, Cyan, -100, Magenta -100, Yellow -100
Neutrals, Cyan +10, Magenta +10, Yellow -20, Black -10

7. Finally add this texture from ??? and set it to Overlay 100%, and voila!!!

I must stress the fact that you really, really, really just have to play around with the settings.  Please comment...and I would love to see your results.

There he was....a towering 6, 5"???

Took me a few seconds to realize, that before me stood the man with the call sign Apollo. If the case wasn't so high...I'd leap over and....well.

Other than that, my day sucked.

HTYMA, is on right now...gave me some icon inspirations.

*Please excuse my grammar...I'm drunk and seriously tired. Not kidding.*

So...I come posting a texture tutorial. Though I must tell you that, there are so many uses for different textures, it's hard to make one specific tutorial to fit your desired icon. You just have to play with the different blends to achieve the look that you want. Lately I've been making grungy icons, but this can be easily modified to make a crispier icon if you so desire.

This is just a basic tutorial with NO SELECTIVE COLORING. Yes, it still confuses me.

I will post a somewhat intermediate texture tutorial in the near future.

So...we'll be taking this *From CSICAPS*
to this,


Okay.

1. Crop, sharpen. Duplicate base, Screen, Exclusion layer with a dark blue, then duplicate base to top and set to soft light. Duplicate the screen layer if it's still too dark.

2. I took this texture from dearest and set it to Hard Light 100%

3. I duplicated the base layer again and dragged it to the top to Overlay 100%

4. Then I did a color fill of a tan-ish color #EDD6BA to give him some fleshy color, since the texture made him a little too blue for my liking.

5. Then I did a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer -32 saturation ONLY.

6. Then I did a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer to -5 Brightness, +15 Contrast.

And there you go.

Really, it's all about playing around with the settings. Plus, this may not work with all icons.

A few things.

I don't think I payed any attention, as for the story...simply cause of some serious distractions. I mean when was the last time I have seen that many cut men in a collective like that, on screen!!
